Pennsylvania State Rep. Chad Reichard presented the owners of Rough Edges Brewing in Waynesboro, Casey and Wes Phebus, with a house citation for coming in first place in the Czech Lager beer category at the 2026 PA Farm Show.

The winning beer is called Nip, which is their Helles Lager, a German style pale lager. “We were very excited to win in this category and are always proud to represent Waynesboro and Franklin County,” said Casey. Having won awards at this contest years previously, Rough Edges looks forward to entering the PA Farm Show again next year.

During Reichard’s visit at the end of August, he got to observe the canning day process and see how their beer is packaged for customers to purchase. “We were very moved to receive (the citation) and grateful for Chad and his support of local business,” said Casey.

The Phebus’ opened Rough Edges Brewing in downtown Waynesboro in 2020, being the first craft brewery the town has seen in over 100 years. Wes found his passion for brewing beer in 2017, starting as a homebrewer, and then working at a professional level for 2 years before opening doors in 2020.
