11 Nonprofit members of the CVBA are to be awarded nearly $200,000 in grants for 2026 by the Franklin County Community Foundation (FCCF). The FCCF will recognize these recipients for a night in “Celebrating Community Investment,” and their dedication to serving Franklin County.

Recipients that are members of the CVBA include:

  • Franklin Fire Co. – $75,000 – used to replace fire engines that need updated and ensure reliable fire control for supporting townships.
  • Franklin County Library System – $35,000 – used to replace the Book Buggy, which is a mobile library that travels across the country to provide free literature and resources to childcare centers.
  • Capitol Theatre Center Foundation – $19,261.98 – used to put on free live entertainment for Chambersburg residents.
  • Downtown Chambersburg Inc. – $14,450 – used to launch an art series in the summer at the Spring Street Amphitheater that will provide a space for residents to view the arts.
  • Franklin County Historical Society – Kittochtinny – $14,446.42 – used to preserve the historic pieces within the Old Jail.
  • Cumberland Valley School of Music – $11,281.54 – used to provide an inclusive art program for preschool aged students and prepare them for kindergarten through CVSM’s Arts Integrated Preschool.
  • Cumberland Valley Breast Care Alliance – $7,000 – used to support free breast care including self-examination, resources, tests, and to enforce community awareness.
  • Totem Pole Playhouse – $4,281.55 – used for “Seussical the Musical” that will bring Dr. Seuss’s stories to life and teach students literacy and reading.
  • Waynesboro Area YMCA – $3,449 – used to support School’s out Club STEM Activities that helps engage students in critical thinking and grow academically outside of the classroom.
  • Habitat for Humanity of Franklin County – $3,000 – used to provide tools and safety supplies for the volunteers that help build a Habitat house.

17 other nonprofit organizations will also be awarded grants the same night on Sept. 17. Together, these grants are a significant contribution that allow these organizations to make an impact within the community and Franklin County area. They range from ensuring access to health care, safety, arts and entertainment, education, and more. The CVBA is proud to have these member organizations among this year’s grant recipients.
