On Saturday, October 18, 2025, Wilson College invites the Chambersburg community to a truly unforgettable celebration. As the College concludes its ambitious $16 million We Rise campaign and honors 156 years of history, the evening will culminate in a breathtaking drone light show—a modern, eco-friendly spectacle designed to pay tribute to our past, present, and future.

Why a Drone Light Show?

Drone light shows have dazzled audiences at global events like the Olympics and New Year’s Eve in major cities. Now, Wilson College brings this high-tech wonder to Chambersburg. Unlike fireworks, drones offer a safer, quieter, and more sustainable experience—perfect for families, seniors, and pets. With 300 LED-equipped drones flying in synchronized patterns, the night sky will come alive with custom animations, symbols, and words that tell the story of Wilson College and the community it calls home.

A Celebration for Everyone

The event will be held above the Conococheague Creek, launching from the Penn Hall Equestrian Center on Wilson’s campus, with optimal viewing from the Main Green, Mistick Quad, and field hockey field. With good weather, the show may even be visible up to three miles away, reaching into downtown Chambersburg.

This exciting night is part of Wilson Weekend (Homecoming and Family Weekend) and will also feature the beloved AppleFest.

What to Expect from the Show

The 15-minute show will be divided into three chapters:

  • U.S. Pride – Celebrating our nation’s ideals and identity
  • Franklin County Pride – Featuring local landmarks and symbols
  • Wilson College Pride – Highlighting Wilson’s mascot, logo, and legacy

Expect to see animated visuals such as a phoenix rising, the Wilson College logo, and even a reimagined Chambersburg burning, all synchronized with a curated soundtrack and voiceover narration.
