Inspiring the health and wellness of the communities it serves, WellSpan Health is proud to donate a ten-acre plot of land to the Greencastle-Antrim School District to help expand the community’s Tayamentasachta Environmental Center, improving access to this natural jewel of Franklin County.

“This donation is an investment that will help to expand a community gathering place that is a focus of our mission at WellSpan: promoting lifelong wellness,” said John Massimilla, vice president of WellSpan Health and president of WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital. “In addition, we are thrilled to be able to provide options for the school district in the future. We are proud of our commitment to our communities and we know that to be a good partner our work extends far beyond providing top-notch doctors, nurses and facilities.”

School officials say the donation will allow for more nature trails to extend the popular Tayamentasachta Environmental Center on Leitersburg Rd. It also allows the district to continue to operate all educational and athletic facilities on a singular campus.

The land is located along Interstate 81 and sits partially in the borough of Greencastle as well as Antrim Township. WellSpan Health will continue to offer imaging and lab services at the John L. Grove Medical Center at 50 Eastern Ave. in Greencastle, on the northern end of this plot of land.

“Our environmental center is the heart of the Greencastle-Antrim community, and this gracious donation of undeveloped land by WellSpan gives our school district the ability to both expand the center, as well as allow for future development of our educational campus if needed,” said Dr. Lura Hanks, Superintendent of the Greencastle-Antrim School District.
