The Cumberland Valley Business Alliance (CVBA) celebrated the outstanding achievements of local businesses and community leaders at its annual Awards Breakfast, presented by M&T Bank, with more than 200 attendees.

Held in partnership with the Chambersburg and Greencastle-Antrim Chambers of Commerce, the event recognized individuals and organizations that exemplify leadership, innovation, and a strong commitment to community in the Cumberland Valley.

CVBA Board Chair Adam Donius opened the program, emphasizing the significance of the honorees’ contributions.

“We are incredibly proud of our award recipients and their impact on the Cumberland Valley,” said Donius. “Their leadership and dedication not only strengthen our business community but also enhance the quality of life across our region.”

The ceremony featured the presentation of six prestigious awards, recognizing excellence across various sectors:

ATHENA Leadership Award: Carrie Gray

Carrie Gray, County Administrator, was honored with the ATHENA Leadership Award for her exemplary leadership in social work, education, and community service. Her mentorship and dedication to advancing opportunities for women in leadership roles have left a lasting impact on the community.

Employer of the Year: Starr Insurance

Starr Insurance was honored for its commitment to employee development and creating a supportive workplace culture. Under the leadership of Derek Taylor, the company fosters professional growth and community engagement, making it a standout employer in the region.

Nonprofit of the Year: Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter

The Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter received recognition for its compassionate care and innovative programs that address animal welfare needs. With initiatives like the Second Chance Fund and educational outreach, the shelter plays a vital role in the community.

Spirit of the Community Award: Chris Ardinger

Chris Ardinger, Administrator of Antrim Township, was celebrated for his dedication to public service and community engagement. Known for his transparent leadership and reliability, Chris has made significant contributions to enhancing the quality of life in the Cumberland Valley.

Emerging Business Leader of the Year: Morgan Horst

Morgan Horst was recognized for her exceptional leadership and community involvement. As a Supervisor at SEK, CPAs & Advisors, Morgan’s professional achievements and mentorship efforts have made a positive impact on both her industry and the community.

Event of the Year: Wilson College’s ‘We Rise: Honoring History. Inspiring Tomorrow.’ Drone Show

This innovative event captivated the community with a spectacular drone light show that celebrated history, innovation, and unity. Hosted by Wilson College, the event highlighted the institution’s longstanding connection to the region and its commitment to community engagement.
