Homeless Matters of Franklin County

Homeless Matters of Franklin County is dedicated to supporting the most urgent needs of homeless families. This season, they are collecting personal care items for the Children’s Aid Society, which has been aiding vulnerable children since 1884.

Donation Details:

  • Items Needed: Chapstick, lotion, deodorant, brushes, combs, pens, pencils, journals, art supplies, teen socks, hats, gloves, lip gloss, body sprays, and hygiene items.
  • Drop-off Location: Franklin County 11/30 Visitors Center, 15 South Main Street, Chambersburg, PA.
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 8 AM – 4:30 PM; Saturday-Sunday, 11 AM – 2 PM.

Greencastle Exchange Club

The Greencastle Exchange Club is working with local schools to identify families needing food or gifts this holiday season. Last year, they supported 170 children with essential items and gifts. To contact them directly about donating, email sssmc@comcast.net.

SCCAP (South Central Community Action Programs)

SCCAP is a cornerstone in the fight against food insecurity in Franklin County. Their food pantry network is crucial for families in need, especially during a government shutdown.

Chambersburg Community Food Drive

From November 3 to December 3, community members can donate canned fruits, vegetables and soup as well as cereal, rice and pasta to help those with food insecurity. All donations will be received by the South Central Community Action Program (SCCAP).

WellSpan’s Healthy Franklin County Initiative

WellSpan’s Healthy Franklin County initiative has been actively supporting food services. WellSpan recently donated $275k to the Central PA Food Bank to bolster local food support.

Cumberland Valley Breast Care Alliance

While the Cumberland Valley Breast Care Alliance primarily supports breast cancer patients, they offer assistance with gas, groceries, mortgage/rent, and utilities. A referral from a local medical facility is required to access these services.
