Downtown Chambersburg Inc. is thrilled to announce the official start of sitework construction on the highly anticipated Spring Street Amphitheater, a transformative public venue located at 59 Lincoln Way West in the heart of Downtown Chambersburg. This major milestone marks the beginning of a project that will energize the community and provide a new gathering space for arts, culture, and celebration.

The Spring Street Amphitheater, which will accommodate up to 400 people, is being made possible thanks to generous support from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Local Share Account Grant (in coordination with Borough of Chambersburg), in addition to donations from local individuals, businesses, foundations, and organizations.

“This is a day we’ve been working toward for years. It’s incredible to see our vision come to life in the form of equipment and building plans,” said Sam Thrush, President of Downtown Chambersburg Inc. “The Spring Street Amphitheater will become a signature destination for our downtown—a place where people come together to experience music, theater, film, and community.”

Downtown Chambersburg Inc., the proud owner and developer of the project, is leading the charge alongside a dedicated team:

1.          John Boozer of Franklin Advisory – Project Manager and Administrator

2.          Lance Kegerreis of Dennis E. Black Engineering Inc. – Project Engineer

3.          GRC, based in Zullinger, PA – General Contractor

4.          Scott’s Excavating, based in Chambersburg, PA – Subcontractor: Sitework

In keeping with a strong commitment to local economic development, portions of the project will be subcontracted to Franklin County businesses.

“Downtown revitalization means investing in places that bring people together, and this amphitheater will do just that,” said Jenna Kaczmarek, Board Chair of Downtown Chambersburg Inc. “We’re proud to support this initiative and excited to see the community’s response as we further enhance the area around Chambers Fort Park located at the convergence of the Falling Spring and Conococheague Creek.”

The project has received essential advocacy and support from State Senator Doug Mastriano and State Representative Rob Kauffman, whose leadership helped secure vital state funding.

“This amphitheater reflects the passion and partnership of so many people,” said Stacy Mellott, Chair of the Amphitheater Committee. “It’s more than a venue—it’s a symbol of what’s possible when a community dreams big and works hard to make it become reality.”

Construction will continue through the coming months, with more updates and community engagement opportunities to be shared as the project progresses.
