WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital recently received the top ranking of all hospitals in Pennsylvania for critical care, according to a new analysis released by Healthgrades, the leading resource that connects consumers, physicians and health systems. The hospital is also among America’s 100 Best Hospitals for critical care for five years in a row (2018-2022).

In February the hospital received the distinguished honor of being one of Healthgrades America’s 100 Best Hospitals Award for the second year in a row, recognizing it as being in the top two percent of hospitals in the country.

In terms of the hospital achieving the No. 1 ranking of all hospitals in Pennsylvania, Healthgrades evaluated Medicare inpatient records for nearly 4,500 short-term acute care hospitals nationwide to assess hospital performance. The ranking for critical care is determined by analysis of patient outcomes in treating pulmonary embolism, respiratory system failure, sepsis and diabetic emergencies.

WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital was also recognized earlier this year by Healthgrades as one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Coronary Intervention for 11 years in a row (2012-2022), one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Orthopedic Surgery, One of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Pulmonary Care for a 6th year in a row (2017-2022) and one of America’s 100 Best Hospital for Gastrointestinal Care for a 4th year in a row (2019-2022).
